Could you tell us what the dirt road from Lunawarra to the Cape Bruny Lighthouse is like? Specifically, we will be on large touring bikes (bitumen tyres) that can handle a firm dirt surface but not loose sand, bulldust or long stretches of loose gravel. If it changes over time with rain, grading etc, are we able to phone the local council (or some other organisation) closer to the date?

Hello, the road from Lunawanna to Cape Bruny is approximately 18km. It's a firm gravel surface and generally not bad. It has a few potholes here and there and corrugations in some areas are worse than others. We see plenty of bikes come through. It does get a bit slippery and slushy if it's been graded or wet for long periods of time. Call us or Tasmanian National Parks and Wildlife for any updates. Kind Regards Craig
Hello - I would like to book some accommodation at the lighthouse- hopefully in one of the historic cottages for me and a dog - is she welcome for a week ? Thanks , Nicola,

Hey, we stayed on the west side and was more barre and windy than on east side of Bruny Island. I would suggest a stay on or near Adventure Bay. It's pretty and more protected. Cheers
