Chengxuan Han is charged with smuggling goods into the United States and making false statements, according to a criminal complaint in U.S. District Court in Detroit.

U.S. authorities said Monday that they had arrested a Chinese researcher accused of smuggling biological material into the country, the second such case in days.

“They’re purposely smuggling in pathogens that could be devastating to American crops, American health and the American economy,” Rogers told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Tuesday.
