NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin is awaiting the birth of his third child, putting his plans for NASCAR's first Cup race in Mexico in flux.

The past two weeks at Nashville and Michigan had Ryan Truex on standby to get in the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 11 if Hamlin had to leave at any point during the race weekend. In fact, if Fish went into labor before 50 laps to go on Sunday at Michigan, Hamlin would have gotten out of the car.

LEBANON, Tenn. — Denny Hamlin says he will skip the Cup race at Nashville Superspeedway if fiancee Jordan Fish goes into labor Sunday. Fish is due to deliver the couple’s third child Sunday.
