Cardiff University has confirmed plans to cut 400 full-time jobs amid a funding shortfall. The cost-cutting proposals could also involve course closures, as well as department mergers, with nursing, music and modern languages among the subjects facing cuts.

Cardiff University is set to close numerous courses due to financial cuts. A number of other courses are also expected to be merging. According to the university, nursing, modern foreign languages, music, ancient history, and religion and theology could be closing.

Cardiff University has confirmed that it plans to cut 400 full time jobs. This news comes as a result of the university’s funding shortfall, as it faces a £30 million “black hole in its budget”. The jobs are also believed to be academic, however, the cutting of some non-academic positions has not been ruled out.
