Chelsea have denied making a late attempt to hijack Manchester United’s move for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, despite reports suggesting last-minute interest.

Mbeumo, 25, arrives for a deal worth up to £71m (£65m plus £6m in add-ons) finally drawing the curtains on a saga which began when the Red Devils tabled their first offer at the start of June.

After weeks of negotiations and rejected bids, United have signed the Brentford winger for a reported deal worth up to £71 million ($95.5m). The Red Devils have confirmed the 25-year-old has penned a deal until 2030 with the option of another year.
