President Donald Trump's confrontation with Maine's governor over transgender athletes captured the conundrum many Democratic governors are facing in the Republican's second term.

Antonio Delgado, who became New York's Lieutenant Governor in 2022, won't run with Hochul in 2026, he said via Instagram Monday, Feb. 24.
