Macy’s is closing several dozen stores as part of a previously announced turnaround plan to save the beleaguered retailer.

The moves are a “part of the Bold New Chapter strategy, which was announced in February 2024,” the company said.

Macy's released the locations of 66 stores slated to be closed. Seven are located in Florida. They are: Boca Raton Furniture, at 9339 Glades Road in Boca Raton, was included in an earlier closure announcement by Macy's. The company said clearance sales at Macy's stores will begin in January and will run for approximately 8 to12 weeks.

The closures announced this week included 66 stores across the U.S., including six in Texas. Five of those stores are in North Texas.

Macy’s announced Thursday the long-rumored closures of its locations in Citrus Heights and downtown Sacramento. The latter has been part of the city’s core for more than six decades.

The department store has reportedly been struggling with declining sales, which has been affecting the wider sector for years.
