Unseeded Jelena Ostapenko crushed world number one Aryna Sabalenka 6-4 6-1 on Monday to win the claycourt title in Stuttgart for her first singles trophy of the year.

Jelena Ostapenko beat world number one Aryna Sabalenka to win the Stuttgart Open in stunning fashion. Ostapenko, who had failed to win in three previous meetings against Sabalenka, took the match 6-4 6-1. The Latvian set the tone with a break of serve in the opening game and kept the pressure on throughout.
