Flash flooding from monsoonal thunderstorms inundated parts of New Mexico on Wednesday, triggering water rescues and prompting Flash Flood Warnings for several areas around burn scars, as more storms are expected to inundate the area again beginning Thursday afternoon.

A flash flood warning in the Ruidoso area prompted a water rescue. A Ruidoso city spokesperson said one person had to be rescued from fast-moving waters. That person is okay. Water levels are starting to lower in the area. Work to reopen the roadways are underway.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning Thursday for the Ruidoso area as showers and storms are hitting the burn scars.
