A hurricane in the central Pacific Ocean has rapidly developed but is not expected to cause major issues for Hawaii. Hurricane Iona formed Monday about 895 miles southeast of Honolulu. Two years
Hurricane Iona and Tropical Storm Keli are moving west well south of the state. There is also third area the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is tracking for tropical cyclone development east of Keli. All three systems will not threaten Hawaii with severe weather, but stronger winds are likely as they pass to our south.
Keli was a tropical storm in the North Pacific Ocean Monday afternoon Eastern time, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory. Keli was forecast to track well south of Hawaii and did not pose a threat to land. It was following a path similar to Hurricane Iona.
Tropical Depression One-C has formed well southeast of the Hawaiian Islands, according to the National Hurricane Center.
