An updated winter storm warning was issued by the NWS Blacksburg VA on Thursday at 10:42 p.m. valid from Friday 1 p.m. until Saturday 7 a.m. The warning is for Ashe, Alleghany, Surry, Stokes, Rockingham,

The storm will bring "widespread snow accumulations" with a mixture of sleet and freezing rain possible south of Interstate 40 with "light ice accumulation possible."

A low-pressure system is moving across the country, delivering rain, snow, and ice to much of the southeast. This same system will be making its way along the east coast early this weekend, bringing a chance for accumulating snow to the tri-state.
