BEAUMONT, Texas — Mariachi is deeply rooted in the Mexican culture and 12News spoke to a Southeast Texas mariachi group on what inspires them to celebrate their roots through music.

As mariachi music made its way to the U.S., its songs about love, loss and the beauty of Mexico became a source of pride for many Mexican-Americans and Mexicans living in the country.

The majority female mariachi band works to keep its sound authentic in hopes future generations will carry on the tradition.
