Crews with Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit first reported the blaze, now referred to as the Lake Fire, at 2:19 p.m. near the 13700 block of Eastlake Drive in Lake County. Firefighters initially described a “moderate rate of spread with two structures involved."

The Gifford fire has rapidly spread after firefighters contained the Madre fire. Together, the two blazes have already burned over 100,000 acres.

Three people were injured as a result of the Gifford Fire, a 65,000-acre blaze burning in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
