California's Employment Development Department says people qualified for PUA & PEUC extensions will be able to continue or file new claims.

Initially, federal law only required EDD to get income substantiation from PUA recipients when they wished to collect more in weekly benefits than the minimum of $167.

She sent a total of four appeal letters to the EDD along with 30 years of 1099 IRS forms. When the application for PUA opened in April, she reapplied for benefits.

PUA benefits will apply to self-employed workers, independent contractors, those whose wage history isn't long enough to qualify for unemployment, and those who have exhausted unemployment benefits.
