New Amtrak Acela trains launched along the Northeast Corridor Thursday, servicing cities from Boston to Washington, D.C.

( NewsNation) — Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy joined Amtrak President Roger Harris in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday for the launch of the company’s new high-speed NextGen Acela train. The inaugural ride from D.C. to New York City comes after multiple setbacks and years of delays. The trains were initially scheduled to debut in 2022.

When Amtrak announced earlier this month that its new NextGen Acela train would debut with stops on the New Haven Line, officials said the train is capable of speeds as fast as 160 mph.
