Iranian state media described the missile barrage as the beginning of Tehran's "crushing response" to Israeli strikes that occurred earlier on Friday.

The Israeli air force struck storage and missile-launch infrastructure in western Iran on Sunday, Israel’s military said, as attacks in Iran entered a third day.

The barrage had direct hits in Petah Tikva and Tel Aviv where there was substantial damage to residential buildings.
