On Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers faced off in Oregon. The Lakers were without most of their key players, so rookie guard Bronny James was given his first NBA start.

As for the Blazers franchise, it would benefit from losing on Sunday. Out are Anfernee Simons, Jerami Grant, Scoot Henderson, Deandre Ayton and Robert Williams III. Shaedon Sharpe is questionable and Deni Avdija (right thumb sprain) is doubtful.

The Los Angeles Lakers closed out their regular season by securing the third seed in the Western Conference with a win over the Houston Rockets. With that goal accomplished, the team chose to rest most of their key players in Sunday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
