Eli Heidenreich walked down the long corridor, wearing his Navy service dress blues and the emotion of the moment all over his face. He stopped at a mirror, placed a Steelers hat on his head and saluted. When he stepped on stage, the Pittsburgh-area native, once a star at Mt. Lebanon High School, was greeted by a rousing ovation in his hometown.
