A federal judge has blocked a law providing college students without legal residency access to reduced in-state tuition in Texas.

Lawmakers sought to close gaps in education and support funding for agriculture, disaster preparedness and health care this year.

Just hours after the lawsuit was filed, Texas and the Department of Justice both asked the judge to accept the administration’s arguments.
