A missile fired from Yemen hit Tel Aviv overnight into Saturday, Israeli authorities said, in a rare instance of a failed interception over the city.

The Houthis claimed responsibility for the strike in the Jaffa area and celebrated the Israel Defense Forces’ failed attempt to intercept the missile.

CAIRO (Reuters) - The Israeli military said on Saturday that attempts to intercept a missile from Yemen failed shortly after sirens sounded in central Israel, adding that a fallen projectile was identified in the area.

Yemen's Iran-backed Huthi rebels on Friday, December 27, said they fired a missile at Israel's Ben Gurion airport, after Israel's military reported a missile had been intercepted. The new rebel claim came a day after Israeli raids pounded Sanaa's international airport and other targets in rebel-held areas of Yemen.
