CHICAGO (CBS) -- Burglars smashed their way into a Zumiez skate shop in the Loop late Monday night, stealing jewelry from a display case.

Peddling classically covetable street, skate, and surf-worthy shoes and clothes has put Zumiez at the top of the teen retail heap.

A skateboard shop was burglarized Monday in the Loop, Chicago police said.

Zumiez, a skateboard shop, opened inside SouthPark Mall this month. The store offers colorful custom skateboards, and clothing designed for the skating lifestyle.

Zumiez has opened in suite 125 of the shopping center. The store sells apparel for men, women and children, as well as skateboards, snowboards and accessories among other items.
