ESPN's Chris Low reported Monday that Ty Simpson won the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback job in the competition against redshirt sophomore Austin Mack and true freshman Keelon Russell. While Simpson has been a backup in each of the last two seasons, this is set to be his fourth year within the program.

The Crimson Tide on Monday, Aug. 11, reportedly named Ty Simpson their starting quarterback for their season opener against Florida State, according the Tuscaloosa News' Colin Gay, part of the USA TODAY Network, who was first to report the news. The team was informed of the decision.

Ty Simpson will be the next starting quarterback at Alabama, the Tuscaloosa News and On3 reported Monday. Simpson, a rising redshirt junior, was in a competition with sophomore Austin Mack and true freshman Keelon Russell.
