The doubles team bested Eri Hozumi and Ulrikke Eikeri in straight sets on Saturday, winning 7-6, 6-1 in second-round action at the US Open. Williams has struggled on the singles side of things later in her career, including a first-round ouster against Karolína Muchová at the U.S. Open.

Williams and Fernandez are moving on to the Round of 16 — marking Williams' best Grand Slam result in nearly a decade.

Venus Williams, who won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles with her sister Serena, teamed with Leylah Fernandez to win her first doubles match at the US Open since 2014.
