The Premier League have denied a request made by Aston Villa to move next week’s clash against Liverpool. Aston Villa will now face a gruelling run of five matches across the space of just 14 days. Liverpool ’s visit to Villa Park was scheduled for mid-March but had to be rearranged when Arne Slot ’s side reached the final of the Carabao Cup.

Three of the four Premier League clubs managed a top eight finish, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa impressing, but Manchester City now face a difficult task of reaching the knockout phase following a 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the first leg of their play-off on Tuesday night.

Aston Villa will welcome back Ollie Watkins for their Premier League clash with Ipswich on Saturday. Unai Emery’s side responded well to their defeat to Wolves last time out in the League, as Villa beat Tottenham 2-1 to knock Spurs out of the FA Cup.
