The Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will begin April 24 in the U.S., after it was originally delayed due to the potential impact of President Donald Trump's worldwide tariffs.

Nintendo is delaying U.S. preorders for its highly anticipated Switch 2 console due to tariffs announced by President Donald Trump, the company said in a statement Friday.

The Switch 2 is launching in early June amid ongoing drama and uncertainty about tariffs, and now Nintendo has put a dollar amount to how much of a negative impact it's forecasting as a result.

However, Bloomberg reports that Nintendo assembles roughly a third of Switch 2 units in Vietnam, now only facing a 10% tariff, not the 46% it would have had if the pause had not happened.

"Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions," a Nintendo representative told CNBC.

At $449.99 for the Switch 2 with no game bundle, some had wondered whether or not the recently imposed tariffs from President Trump had anything to do with Nintendo’s decision.
