Dozens of schools in Minnesota have issued early closings or delays as another round of winter-like weather moves across the state Tuesday.

While a significant amount of Minnesota schools are on spring break, a number that aren't are canceling classes due to the winter storm hitting the state on Wednesday.

It might be April Fool's Day, but the weather is no joke for the boys and girls track teams at Spring Lake Park High School. FOX 9’s Maury Glover spoke with several Minnesotans working their way through a rain-snow mix on Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service has a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for counties including Stearns, Benton and Sherburne. It will be in effect until 1:00 a.m. on Thursday., Mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations up to 4 inches and ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch from sleet and freezing rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for a big chunk of central and northern Minnesota, while a winter weather advisory surrounds the warning. The highest snow totals are currently forecast in places like Bemidji, Grand Rapids and Duluth, where a foot of snow could pile up.

A potent spring storm is brining winterlike conditions to much of Minnesota Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday. The heaviest snow will fall across central and northern Minnesota.
