Even though the Minnesota Twins had talks with the Boston Red Sox about Joe Ryan leading up to the trade deadline, one player whose name never came up in discussions was Roman Anthony.

The Red Sox reportedly weren't willing to part with any of its surplus of MLB outfielders during trade talks with the Twins for SP Joe Ryan.

Instead, Steven Matz came over from the St. Louis Cardinals, but without Ryan, the Red Sox are left hoping that more marginal moves will be enough. Derek Falvey stared at a top 100 prospect return, but wisely backed off when Boston refused to put anyone else in the deal.
