Miguel Rosales was the architect behind the bridge. He said he immigrated to the U.S. from Guatemala in the 1980s.

When Falls Park on the Reedy River and The Liberty Bridge opened on Sept. 10, 2004, it was due to a continuous effort from the city of Greenville and the Carolina Foothills Garden Club.

Greenville celebrated the 20th anniversary of Falls Park and the Liberty Bridge downtown. Mayor Knox White, Miguel Rosales, Andrea Mains and Sally White spoke.
