The two Massachusetts women who died from injuries suffered in a camper explosion at Old Orchard Beach in Maine smelled a strange odor and lit a candle prior to the fiery eruption, the Maine State Fire Marshal’s office said Monday.

Two women from Massachusetts were killed in a camper explosion at a popular campground in Maine over the weekend.

The Maine state fire marshal says the victims, Alesia Ventura-Large and Nancy Pilsch, were friends who were visiting Old Orchard Beach for the weekend.
