The Constitution's construction began in 1794, lasting until its launch on October 21, 1797. The ship is made from white oak and live oak with a three-layer hull.

First commissioned in 1797, the USS Constitution was one of the Navy’s original six frigates. In the ship’s earlier years, it was one of the fastest and most formidable ships on the high seas.

The US Coast Guard Eagle, considered America’s tall ship, is docked behind the USS Constitution this weekend at the Charlestown Navy Yard, with the public welcome for free tours.
