Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called on Saturday for the creation of a European army, arguing the continent could no longer be sure of protection from the United States and would only get respect from Washington with a strong military.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for the creation of an "army of Europe" to guard against Russia as he suggested the US may no longer come to the continent's aid. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference,

"We must build the Armed Forces of Europe so that Europe's future depends only on Europeans and decisions about Europe are made in Europe," Zelenskyy said in a speech at the Munich Security Conference on Feb.

Ukraine has intelligence that Russia plans to send troops to its ally Belarus this summer under the pretense of training exercises, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday.

Volodymyr Zelensky has demanded the creation of a European army, warning that Russia is "not a country that wants peace". Speaking at the Munich Security Conference this morning, the Ukrainian President said that the continent needs "confidence in our own strength so that other people respect European power".
