The San Diego Padres are calling the Chicago White Sox's bluff over their trade demands for the team's $50 million outfielder.

Perez, who is nearing a rehab assignment after missing three months with an elbow injury, has been a critical clubhouse presence for a rebuilding squad.

Its Tuesday, July 29 and the Phillies (60-46) are in Chicago as their series against the White Sox (39-68) continues. Jesús Luzardo is slated to take the mound for Philadelphia against Jonathan Cannon for Chicago.

The White Sox tacked on two runs in the eighth on singles by Sosa and Montgomery. The Phillies struck out 11 times. Phillies left-hander Jesús Luzardo (8-5, 4.58 ERA) starts on Tuesday night, and right-hander Jonathan Cannon (4-7, 4.48 ERA) takes the mound for the White Sox.

When acquired from the Tigers, 25 of Maxwell’s 70 career homers were hit on Sundays. Of his 10 in 1962, five came on Sunday. On July 8, Maxwell had six hits in a doubleheader against Cleveland, and on August 19, Maxwell hit a grand slam and knocked in six against Detroit.
