Trump’s DOGE, an advisory body led by Musk, has zeroed in on some agencies as part of its efforts to slash the size of government. The CFPB was the latest to come into Musk’s crosshairs following DOGE’s efforts to fire staff members and stop work at the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Feb. 9 The National Treasury Employees Union, which represents CFPB employees, sued Vought, asking a judge to stop him from halting the bureau’s work and alleging he granted staffers from Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency access to CFPB’s internal communications systems, NBC reported.

A union representing thousands of federal employees filed two lawsuits against Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought for his shuttering of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Vought is the acting director of the CFPB.
