Great news for Lu! Mwelu the chimpanzee continues to recover well following his historic spinal surgery. His pathology results confirmed the mass was benign, with no signs of malignancy. Lu’s mobility has improved, and he’s gaining strength each day under the care of his dedicated team. For now, he’s resting indoors near his troop so his surgical site can heal properly — and he’s enjoying all the extra attention from his caregivers.
