Our Brush Cutting Crew plans to be back out on the railroad this Saturday trimming our trees and removing any brush that could interfere with our trains or sight lines. New volunteers are always welcome as there are jobs for anyone. They plan to meet at our Brightside yard (5550 Niles Canyon Road) this Saturday, May 26th at 8AM. Did you ever wonder how some speeders are turned around on a railroad? Many speeders today have built in turntables as seen here in this video of a crew turning their car in our Niles yard earlier this year. Originally, many smaller cars were just turned using handles built into the car and pure human strength. It's great to see young people getting involved with history here in Martinez. Joseph and Liam are local train buffs, members of the Martinez Historical Society and/or The Niles Canyon Railway, operation museum. As part of the holiday lighting project, Joseph Chavez is dry-fitting a reproduction of the headlight which was stolen from Old 1258 years ago.
