I don’t recommend using timeouts. What do I suggest instead? With toddlers, I use consistent corrective actions, and when they are three and older, I recommend starting with the BratBusters Behaviour Board. P.S. Strict rules, timeouts, parent-led everything, even physical punishments…🚫 Do you know why these old-school parenting methods just don't work? 👉 Because they are rooted in fear and blind compliance. That's not how we want to raise our kids We want them to grow up and know why they're doing what they're doing. 🙌 Punishments might seem like a quick fix, but they never address the core issues. And they definitely don’t equip our children with the skills they need to succeed in the future. 🎧 Joi

How do I keep my toddler in timeout? Personally, I don’t recommend timeouts for any age. So I would suggest you don't do it, and instead focus on consistent corrective actions every single time they do something that you don't like. I'd suggest picking one behavior per week that you wanna correct, and you just do consistent corrective actions. As an example, if they throw a toy, you say no, and you put that toy where they can see it, but can't touch it. You have to do it every single time though

When it's time to correct your child's behavior, use "Grandma's Law," timeouts and forgiveness in discipline. That's the advice Dr. Randy Schroeder provides in this video. If you're wondering what "Grandma's Law" is, it goes something like this: "when you finish your chicken and vegetables, then you can have the pie I baked you." Dr. Schroeder goes into more detail about using "when you, then you." He also explains that timeouts may be a very popular method of discipline, but instead, or even al

5 Difficult Truths That Shifted My View of Timeouts as Discipline I used to believe timeouts were a ‘gentler’ alternative to punishment. I thought they taught kids to calm down, reflect, and do better next time. But the more I learned about child development and the nervous system, the more I realized that timeouts weren’t the teaching tool I thought they were. Here are 5 hard truths that changed everything for me: 1️⃣ Timeouts don’t teach self-regulation. They teach kids to suppress emotions al

Explaining Parenting on Instagram: "the classic timeout method — the parenting tool that’s somehow both famous and controversial at the same time 😅 The timeout method is a discipline strategy where a child is briefly removed from a situation after misbehavior. The idea isn’t punishment for punishment’s sake — it’s to give the child time to calm down, reset, and understand that certain behaviors have consequences. Here’s how it’s supposed to work: When a child breaks a rule (like hitting, yellin
