Yes, the first portrait is a post-mortem photo. Back then, portraits weren’t very accessible and not cheap. Sometimes the only photo you had of your loved one was the one taken at their funeral. Post-mortem photos were very common during the Victorian era up until the 1930s. All of these beautiful souls I found while on my walk through Evergreen Cemetery today.
