Welcome back to the New Hampshire covered bridge series. This is State Covered Bridge Number 4: the Slate Bridge in Swanzey. It’s one of four historic covered bridges in town and part of a strong concentration of bridges in this region. And if you’re wondering why we jumped from Bridge Number 2 to Number 4, it’s because Number 3—the Melvin Bridge in Winchester—was destroyed by arson in 1964 and no longer exists.
