This Willem de Kooning painting's whereabouts were unknown for 32 years. In 1985, "Woman-Ochre" was cut from its frame and stolen from the University of Arizona Museum of Art. In 2017, it was found at an antique store. Once recovered, the artwork made its way to Getty's paintings conservation studio in 2019 where a team of conservators and scientists could reunite the stolen painting with the edges of the sliced original canvas.
