As Ysaye Barnwell states here, it truly was the youth of the civil rights movement that brought energy and heart to the cause. While the older activists bring wisdom, planning, and forethought, it is the youth of any movement that help it take root and gain momentum. These three songs were sung by the teenagers of that movement, and it is their voices that will echo through the years.
